Every upcoming game needs a spot-on promotion. And what does more justice to an aspiring game title than a well-edited video that adds to the thrill? It’s our pleasure to introduce you to our one and only Video Content Editor, Simona, a girl of few words but plenty of video sequences.
She’s sort of reclusive, shy, though overtly professional, and her video edits speak volumes. As a young artist, Simona is eager to expand her artistic horizons and grind away on her talents. Besides her devotion to visual art, she’s also a passionate gamer, D&D enthusiast, an occasional cosplayer, and an overall nice girl Let’s get to know her more closely!
Hi, it’s nice to have you here. Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi, I’m Sisa, I come from Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, and I’ve always been into all things games, art, and graphics.
Alright, that was quick, though well said, I have to say. Tell me, as mostly a video artist, what does your daily job entail?
I wanted to make sure I could merge my passion with my daily job. Quite naturally, that’s how I ended up working as a Video Content Creator. Basically, I’m responsible for editing every piece of video content we release at QORPO Game Studio. Hence, I spend countless hours with Citizen Conflict and AniMate, trying to capture the most fascinating moments and recreating them into videos ready for publishing.
Honestly, I feel happy for being able to deliver what I love doing since my hobbies revolve around video creation, photography, and a little bit of cinematography.
That’s impressive. How exactly did you make it to the artistic field?
I studied at an art school where I specialized in graphic design, photography, and video editing, thus, everything I’ve always been deeply into. I liked the idea of pursuing studies focused on applicable visual arts, however, to be frank, I didn’t learn much there.
Unfortunately, I had to learn many things on my own, in a sort of hit-or-miss fashion. The good thing is I had lots of personal projects in the video editing niche already up my sleeve, so I was able to acquire lots of useful skills before landing my first job. Yet still, as an emerging 21-year-old artist, I still have a long way to go.
There are simply so many things I want to learn in my field. It feels simultaneously overwhelming and exciting.
I see you had to scale it up fast. I wonder, how did you end up at QORPO Game Studio?
Honestly, I jumped fresh out of school on the QORPO team. But despite having basically no previous formal experience, my personal projects and free-time activities in the video editing field got me the job.
I basically follow the fandom of so many exciting projects. To name some, I’m highly into Last of Us or Jedi: Survivor - that’s a truly a top-notch game. In general, I don't often do simple velocity edits like most editors do. I always like to tell some kind of story. I genuinely seek emotions I desire to capture through my videos.
Nice! Tell me, what exactly were you working on that got you here?
I used to be quite active on social media, sharing my work with anyone interested. I’m still present on TikTok and Instagram under the Antihuntress moniker. I used to be on Twitter, but I literally abandoned the profile, practically.
To give you a little background, I am a rather anxious person by nature, and I remember the night before the job interview. I was stressed out, more so with my reclusive personality. Thankfully, that night I got a nice, encouraging comment on one of my videos on Twitter. It was from the creator the video was about - Markiplier.
Afterward, my video blew up, which gave me a big confidence boost that I definitely needed. So by extension, I could say that my favorite content creator, Markiplier, got me this job.
Were you always sure that you wanted to make it to the game development studio?
Right, I’m a gamer girl, so yeah. When I saw the “QOROPO is hiring’ ad, I simply knew that I had to give it a shot. Working on what’s my passion in the gaming environment? Sounds good to me. Fortunately, my high hopes didn’t let me down, and I still keep looking forward to new challenges.
Tell me more about the games you like.
Okay! I mostly play story-driven single-player games like Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us, or Pokémon. But Genshin Impact has to be my favorite at the time despite it being multiplayer. You know, an exception to the rule. And sure, games are still a huge part of my life.
What are your future goals at QORPO?
To deliver the work my colleagues, our fans, and the community will be satisfied with. …And to work hard on After Effects. I love video editing, but sometimes, it can be frustrating. Luckily, I’m surrounded by amazing and supportive people. Everyone is so nice to me. Furthermore, it always feels great to work with people you share a passion for the same thing with.
Lastly, please, give me some insights into your free time. Any interesting hobbies?
I spend my free time doing more video editing… Yes, after work, what I do to relax is more editing (how ironic, right?)
However, I do most of my free-time editing just for myself, as entertainment. You know, random fan edits of various movies or games, which I upload on social media. As I mentioned, I’m also a prolific gamer. From time to time, I also like to cosplay.
Thanks for the interview.
Thanks for having me.
